In this article we’re going to review what are QR Codes, Analytics, what they are, where to find who has scanned your card  and how many times they have scanned your card.

What is a QR Code?

A QR code (Quick Response code) is a type of two-dimensional barcode that consists of black squares arranged on a white background. It can store a large amount of information, such as URLs, text, or contact details, which can be quickly read by smartphones and QR scanners. QR codes are commonly used for various applications, including advertising, payments, and product tracking.

Common destinations for QR Codes?

  1. Website URLs: Directs users to a specific web page or online content.
  2. Contact Information: Directs user to be able to contact you.
  3. Event Details: Saves event information to a user's calendar.
  4. Payment Links: Facilitates mobile payments or donations.
  5. Calendar Links: Helps you book a meeting to have the URL be your calendar
  6. Social Media Profiles: Directs to social media pages or profiles.
  7. Product Information: Provides details about a product, such as specifications or instructions.

Where to add a QR Code when building your card

When you are designing your card template or order,  you can add your URL directly in the portal.  This will generate a QR Code that you can resize or move anywhere on the front side of your card.

(Currently, we are not able to add QR Codes to the backside of your card.)

Add your URL in the “Tracking & Attribution” field and then click Generate.

Once you have entered your desired URL, you will get a pop up box asking you to scan the QR code to confirm that it is going to your desired destination.  Scan this QR code with your smart phone’s camera and it should take you to your destination.  If when you scan it, it works, go ahead and click confirm.

Now you will see your QR code in the bottom right corner of your card.  You can click on it and move it around or change the size of it.

Now your QR code is added to your card.  For further instructions on how to design your card, click here.

QR Code Analytics

Next, we will go over QR Code Analytics.

QR Code Analytics will tell you who scanned your card, how many times they scanned it and the date of the last time they scanned it all in one place.

While in the portal, Click Orders on the top left side of your screen.  Then choose the Order you want to see Analytics on and click that order.

Here is where you will see the Analytics.  You can see at a glance how many scans are received. You can also click the QR Scans and make the arrow point down to move everyone who scanned your card to the top of the list. You can also see when someone scanned your card.  Just click Last QR Scan and make the arrow point down to sort your list and move all of the scans in date order to the top of your list.

A few things to keep in mind when reviewing Analytics:

  • It takes a minute or 2 for the list to populate depending on how big it is.
  • Scans will show up as soon as the card is scanned, there is no delay.
  • QR codes are dynamic and are individual to each card.  This is what makes it so you can see exactly who is scanning your card.
